I live in a large 4 bedroom, 2 bath place in blue lake, which is about 7 minutes from HSU. We get MANY more days of sun and are generally 10-15 degrees warmer than Arcata in the summer and fall. I have rented this place for the last 5 years and generally sublet 2 of the rooms to others. Both of my roommates recently moved out of state and I am looking for one more tenant. I have lived happily with male and female roommates; currently I have one female roommate and myself (male), we are both students with jobs.

The rental is an apartment of sorts, two stories- which is situated over a creek. The bedrooms are quite large, and there is a basic living area with a living room/kitchen/dining area all attached. Washer and Dryer are included in rent and on-site. The Mad River, Perigot Park, and the post office are all about two blocks away, and a public trail that is good for running begins half a block from our door. The fish hatchery is about a mile down the road. There is off-street parking and a small porch, but no yard and pets are not allowed.

You must be a neat and respectful person, non-smoker of anything (weed included; please keep it out of my house), alcohol is fine so long as it isn't to excess; all other drugs are absolutely out. You can expect the same from me...I am clean, respectful, and generally keep my clutter to my own room. I am mostly quiet at home and prefer to be social elsewhere, but I sometimes have barbecues or small get-togethers here. Be willing to provide references and a credit check.

One final note is that this is a month-to-month rent and I may need to adjust it if the pg&e bill is too much (or other unforeseen expenses.) I would give plenty of notice before this would happen and it should not be too substantial.

You'd be sharing a house with biology, liberal studies, and engineering majors. We study hard, but we like to have fun, too. We brew beer and we sure love to drink them as well! No indoor smoking (of anything) please...

We do occasionally cook meat, we love to cook in general--we bake most of our bread and such.

We have one very sweet yellow lab pup, she's super friendly and doesn't chew stuff up.

Starting in September we will need someone to care for him W, TH, FR from about 7:45-5:00. We have a lovely guest room in our house that would work well for a live-in “nanny”.

The room can be furnished or unfurnished and is separate from the rest of the bedrooms in the house (it is downstairs in the front, other bedrooms are upstairs). You would also have the downstairs bathroom to yourself most of the time, as we usually use the upstairs bathroom. Of course you would have access to laundry/kitchen/garage/storage also. Our house was built in 1914 and has lots of character. We have a pleasant fenced yard and a garden that you would be welcome to work in, plant in, and eat from!

We are a pretty laid-back family. We enjoy playing games, going on walks, baseball, bike rides, reading, etc. We also have an energetic 4 year old daughter, but we have other childcare/preschool arrangements for her. You would primarily be caring for our son.

We are looking for someone who would give him lots of attention and love, play with, sing with, read to, take him outside, etc. We don’t just want him plopped in front of the TV. We are looking for someone who would fit well with our family. No smoking, no drugs.
