Summary:

The Los Bagels shop manager is the lead person at each location and is responsible for overseeing daily operations. That person is the conduit for communication between coworkers, business managers, and customers.

The primary areas of responsibility are customer service, community relations, and quality control. The manager is expected to set an example for coworkers in providing customer service. The manager is responsible for helping employees attain excellent customer service skills through oversight and guidance.

Adaptability and problem solving are required skills. Being knowledgeable about products, especially for special events, holidays and promotions is one of the priorities of this position.

Reports to: Assistant Operations Manager
Direct Reports: Counter staff

Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer service
Knowledge of products and store operations
Create and maintain friendly, helpful and prompt service
Maintain a clean, well stocked and visually appealing shop
Foster friendly relationships with regular and new customers as well as neighboring business people
Handle in-store wholesale transactions and special orders

Personnel (supervising 4-6 people daily)
Coordinate breaks/lunches and assign tasks throughout the day
Mentor employees
Motivate and problem solve with employees
Constructively correct inadequate employee performance
Report performance problems to operations manager
Schedule and do customer service staff performance reviews
Cover absences due to illness
Approve and report overtime
Create and maintain safe work environment
Create and maintain customer service staff schedule
Conduct preliminary interviews of customer service staff applicants and participate in interviews and hiring of new staff
Handle employee scheduling and make adjustments as needed




Cash registers
Stock cash registers with opening cash for the day
Pull change from the safe to maintain adequate amounts of change in registers
Oversight of employees cash handling and register use

Store appearance
Maintain store cleanliness standards, i.e. counters clean, floors swept, tables ready for customers at all times
Attend to displays, signage, stocking and general appearance of store
Maintain health and food handling standards
Maintain adequate inventories of retail products

Equipment
Have knowledge of and awareness of appliances and other fixtures
Ensure proper maintenance of appliances and equipment
Have the ability to assess equipment problems and have knowledge of how to fix or which resources to call for repairs

Manager’s reports and other duties
Write a daily report of activities
Be aware of and interface with the Health Dept., Fire Dept., and other officials in regards to inspections
Communicate via phone or in person with GM, operations manager, owners and other managers
Required to attend periodic managers meetings and staff meetings
Periodically come in on days off to help set up/take down holiday displays, new promotional materials, etc.
Check in and sign for receipt for product deliveries
Pass Food Handlers Certificate
Ordering (drinks, produce, and various other supplies)
Conduct quarterly inventory counts
Interact with bake department personnel as needed
Have an awareness of ideal product numbers for each item for each day and make adjustments to when necessary

Additional Requirements: Must be capable of using retail equipment such as cash registers, normally associated with retail store operations outlined above. One or more years experience supervising and retail management required- food service preferred. Education in the area of supervision is also helpful. Communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills necessary. Must have flexibility in your schedule to work as needed, including weekends and holidays. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and work in a standing position for up to 8 hours.
