Program Coordinator
The Humboldt County Office of Elections is committed to ensuring all eligible residents have an opportunity to exercise their right to vote; conducting elections in a fair, accurate, and efficient manner; and providing reliable information and the best possible service to voters, districts, candidates, and other interested parties.
This position serves as the primary coordinator for the Humboldt County Office of Elections’ Election Worker Program. The role is heavily focused on recruiting, scheduling, onboarding, and supporting Election Workers who staff Vote Centers and assist with election operations throughout Humboldt County. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as it regularly interfaces with Election Workers, Office of Elections staff, County Human Resources, and Payroll. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing large-scale scheduling logistics, maintaining accurate records, responding to employee questions, and helping support training and operational readiness during election cycles. Election administration is deadline-driven, fast-paced, and highly public facing. During active election periods, the workload and pace increase significantly, and the position plays an important role in helping ensure elections are staffed and operated effectively. Outside of election periods, the position will help improve and modernize Election Worker program processes, procedures, recruitment efforts, and operational systems to increase efficiency and strengthen the program long term.
What You'll Do:
Recruit, onboard, schedule, and support Election Workers for county elections, including maintaining staffing assignments for Vote Centers and election operations.
Serve as a primary point of contact for Election Workers by responding to questions, coordinating communications, and assisting with personnel, scheduling, and payroll-related processes.
Coordinate with Elections staff, Human Resources, and Payroll to process hiring documentation, employee records, training coordination, timekeeping, and other administrative functions related to the Election Worker Program.
Maintain accurate schedules, rosters, databases, records, and program documentation while ensuring compliance with County procedures and election deadlines.
Assist with evaluating and improving Election Worker recruitment, scheduling, training, and operational processes to increase program efficiency and effectiveness.
Work Schedule:
Primarily Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch. Schedule will vary during election cycles and regularly includes evening and weekend work. Compensatory time accrual is common during active election periods.
