As an integral part of MRYSL, you make it possible to provide a safe, efficient, learning environment for the local children from Trinidad to Arcata out to Willow Creek for soccer education. Mad River Youth Soccer League values its people, resources, partners, and love of the game.
Referee (Game Official) Supervisor
Statement of Work:
Under the supervision of all board members, the incumbent will conduct affairs on behalf of the league in regards to Recreation Soccer. Duties will consist of coordinating a pool of referees to ensure that all scheduled MRYSL games have the required qualified referee(s )assigned to work them. Onsite coordination and supervision will be needed.
Days of work:
August to November – Coordination meetings, and every Saturday 8-2, Sunday 8-2.
50% - Training and making sure referees work at their correct level, both in terms of referee licensing and referee experience and age. Upkeep of contracts, games officiated, and payments. Supervision over issues, with communication from the board as required. Onsite for questions, backup refereeing and further training as needed. Will be responsible for updating online schedule platform, contacting and no show referees (may need to referee games themselves). They will need to update any onsite changes by the next business day online.
20% - Responds to inquiries from the public. Addresses situations and informs other parties as needed. Resolves issues at the lowest level.
20% - Works with others to finalize any events, completes written statement of work reports for board meetings monthly and other issues.
10% - Other tasks as assigned by the Board.
This position supervises referees from ages 11 to adult. Must be able to evaluate various situations accurately and make sound decisions. Contact may be with hostile public, and incumbent is expected to maintain a favorable public image for MRYSL.
Grade 9 USSF Referee License
Ability to use computers and software, including spreadsheets, word processing programs, and online platforms
Mandatory attendance at at least one referee course offered during the summer (grade 9, grade 9, or refresher course)
Ability to work safely around children
Ability to work efficiently alone and with others
All minimum qualifications plus
Grade 8 USSF Referee License
