Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District (HBMWD) is seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Maintenance Worker.
Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of light and heavy maintenance work, assisting Maintenance Mechanics and other staff with maintenance activities, system inspections, and periodic construction projects. Grounds-keeping duties include mowing, right-of-way clearing, painting, cleaning, and trash removal at District parks, properties, and rights-of-way.
This is an entry-level position — the right candidate will work under close supervision to learn about the District's water system and maintenance program, with the opportunity to take on more independent assignments as experience grows.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and prior maintenance or hands-on work experience in a related field. Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. The ideal candidate will be a team player who can follow directions, operate a variety of grounds-keeping equipment and power tools safely, and work cooperatively within a small, close-knit workforce. A valid California Driver's License is required. Candidates must be able to participate in confined space operations and must obtain a Grade ll Water Treatment & Grade ll Water Distribution Certificate and an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certificate during the first year of employment. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies and may be required to work odd shifts, weekends, or holidays. Position may require multi-day assignments at Ruth Lake.
The annual salary range is $58,415 – $71,018.
