May is National Foster Care Month, a time to recognize that we can each play a part in enhancing the lives of youth in foster care, as well as supporting those just exiting foster care. Did you know that every year about 4,000 youth age out of foster care in California? 20% become homeless the day they turn 18!
In order to successfully live independently, young adults need access to resources, guidance, and support from trusted adults. Many youth exiting foster care don’t have these things. WE NEED YOUR HELP to support these young adults as they make this transition to adulthood and independent living.
Do you have a spare bedroom (or other livable space) collecting dust? You can put that room to good use by hosting a youth in need for a short stay! Home Grown works with transition-aged youth (ages 18-24) in Humboldt County, CA who are experiencing housing insecurity to attain stable short-term housing.
By becoming a “host”, YOU can make a BIG difference in a young adult’s life by providing them with housing, stability, and mentorship!
To find out how you can make a difference as a "host", register to attend our upcoming virtual host info session on Monday, May 23rd from 6PM-6:30PM, contact Joann at show contact info
